Sun & Shadows

Enter a UK postcode to see an overhead street view with nearby building outlines. Pick a season, then drag the slider (or run auto) from sunrise to sunset to see how shadows move.

Uses postcodes.io for coordinates, then OpenStreetMap building footprints for the street around the pin. OSM is 2D outlines (not full 3D models) — heights are tagged values or estimates.

How to read this

  • Yellow line points toward the sun; dark shapes are estimated building shadows on the ground.
  • Winter = long low shadows; summer = shorter midday shadows and a wider sunrise–sunset window.
  • This is a first-pass sketch for buyers — not a measured survey. Trees, extensions and missing OSM buildings can change the real picture.

Sun orientation is one piece of due diligence. For a fuller property report with flood, EPC and sold prices, see homebuyerreport.co.uk.
