eBay 1p Auction Search & Auto Bid Program
eBay 1penny search and automatic bidder
In December when I was busying Christmas presents for people, I was using ebay quite a lot, bidding on things and buying them with the buy it now button, I noticed that sometimes there were items with Free Shipping that had no bids on them were ending, things like mobile phone covers, styluses, computer cables, pieces of jewellery, Sim cards, eCigarette atomisers, watch straps and many other items.
This got me thinking, is it possible to buy these items, pay only 1 penny and have them delivered to my house for virtually nothing? I now know the answer to this, yes. Yes you can have these items delivered for 1p.
I have only been doing this for a week or so, but up to now I have a new HDMI cable, new Dust Mask, GiffGaff Sim cards (I know these are free anyway), a green carpet swatch, Molex to Sata Power Cable, RJ45 Ethernet connectors, Joke Scratch Cards, many screen protectors and many other plugs, connectors and screen protectors.
A lot of the items are coming from China and other far away places, but when they get here, I will have many more items.
I got tired of manually bidding on these items, so I wrote a program to do it for me. I love my automation, why do something that is repetitive and boring when a program or script can do it for you? This is the part of coding I love, back end Dev-Ops stuff.
All you need is a good understanding of PHP and know how to use Curl, Cookies, URL's and a bit of Regex and you have a script that will search eBay for your keywords (or browse an entire category), find the ones with a price of 0.01 pence with Free Shipping and with no bids already placed on the item.
I can change a variable and increase the bid to a higher amount but I am getting enough items for 1p, I don't want to pay 10 times the price :)?
See the screen shots of my ebay account, I have over 1500 bids placed on items. Granted I will be outbid 98% of the time, but I still get many items that other people miss for 1pence.
See a screen shot of the program I wrote finding and submitting bids. It is written in PHP and runs from the Command Prompt. A typical run of the program will search around 1500 items, it will bid on between 300 and 450 items and will take just over an hour to complete.
I have decided to not release the software at the moment, but some of the people I have spoken to are interested in having a copy so they can get their own 1p bargains on eBay.
